Omega Speedmaster 50th Anniversary

The watch was delivered quickly and is an absolute joy to see. The workmanship is extremely good all round with a super finish and great attention to detail. I can thoroughly recommend this to anybody.

The watch has a gorgeous black dial with white hands and stick batons, so is easy to read. The sub dials are neatly recessed with smaller white hands and the Speedmaster logo is picked out in gold with super detail. The lume is very neatly applied to the hands and works well.

The stainless steel finish on the case is a combination of mirror finish and brushed look, which continues through the solid steel bracelet. The clasp is neatly engraved with the Omega logo, name and Speedmaster. Every aspect of the case and bracelet is a pleasure and has been carried out with super precision.

The crystal has a very gentle curve to it, rather than the flat glass which was introduced by Omega in 1969 so this is another nice touch.

The glass back lets you see the amazing Lemania movement which is a work of art, nicely polished and with no automatic rotor to spoil the view!

The crown bears the Omega logo and has the “screw-down” facility for added security. Unscrewing the crown enables the winding function, one click out and the hands can be set as usual. The power reserve on full wind is around 50 hours.

This is a heavy watch but feels most comfortable on the wrist and is a perfect fit for me. I have thick wrists but this feels as though it were tailor-made. I also like the push-button locking feature on the bracelet, which gives peace of mind that the bracelet is not going to accidentally spring open.

Needless to say the Lemania movement functions perfectly and is the most appropriate choice for this watch, since it was the Lemania 321 movement that was used by Omega in the original version.

Overall verdict…..flawless and absolutely stunning! 10 out of 10 for workmanship and finish.A timeless classic.
